Beate and Meyer Joubert of Joubert-Tradauw, a family-owned private cellar, are our hosts for this weekend’s activities. Unplugged62 Festival will be held on their beautiful farm in the Klein Karoo region on the famous R62 route, just outside the picturesque village of Barrydale.
Meyer Joubert, born in the Tradouw Valley, moved onto the farm in 1995 and currently lives there with his wife, Beate, and four children, Katerien, Julia, Andreas and Lena.
Meyer was the first wine maker to identify the popularity of the world-famous R62 and consequently trademarked ‘R62’ as a wine. Along with his R62 wine, a classic red blend matured in French oak for 24 months and bottled unfiltered, he also produces a Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah on the farm. All of his wine will be available at Unplugged62 for tasting and drinking!
To add to the wine farm experience, Joubert-Tradauw boasts the much-loved R62 Deli, which specialises in Klein Karoo tapas. The Deli is a Mediterranean-style farm kitchen with rustic décor and an inside fireplace. Festival goers will hopefully (weather permitting) be able to dine out under the vine-covered veranda (“afdak”) in true alfresco style!
Come unplug from your busy lives and join Meyer, Beate and their four gorgeous children for a weekend of wine, klein karoo styled food and great music!
